Profile: Andrés Otero
Andrés Otero is a Managing Director and head of Kroll’s Miami office. In addition, Andrés oversees Kroll’s offices in Argentina, Colombia and Grenada and manages client relationships in the Andean Region, Southern Cone, Central America and the Caribbean. Prior to relocating to Miami, Andrés opened and managed Kroll’s office in Bogotá. He is an expert in a variety of investigative and intelligence areas, including fraud and anti-corruption services, money laundering investigations, and conflict resolution matters.
Prior to joining Kroll, Andrés co-founded Corporate Investigations, a boutique risk consulting firm in Bogotá, Colombia. There he supported governments, multilateral organizations and private companies in their efforts to fight corruption.
In addition to working for other investigative companies such as Control Risks Group and Pinkerton Consulting & Investigation, Andrés has held a number of positions, both in Colombia and abroad, with the Colombian government, the European Union and the Inter-American Development bank where he focused on anti-corruption initiatives. He served as the Technical Secretary in the Citizen’s Surveillance Commission during the action that was taking place against the involvement of drug money in political campaigns in Colombia.
Professional Experience
- Institutional Integrity & Corporate Fraud. Helped develop a new approach for investigations into corruption allegations for governments and multilateral banks. Andrés has led investigations against senior government officials in several Latin American countries by interviewing suspects and testifying before Integrity Committees in Washington, Colombia and Miami.
- Competitive Intelligence. Managed different dispute cases throughout Latin America between different competitors in the retail, financial and manufacturing industry. Andrés also supported different law firms in litigation for unfair trade in different industry segments.
- Risks Assessments. Prepared risk assessment reports for multinational corporations interested in investing in Latin America. He analyzed political, security, social and economic risks in different countries in the region.
