Profile: Betsy Blumenthal

Betsy Blumenthal is a Senior Managing Director and head of Kroll’s San Francisco office. With her background in finance, politics and non-profit organizations, Betsy provides her clients with a wealth of diverse experience and business perspective.  Since joining Kroll more than 22 years ago, Betsy has led numerous investigations which leverage her expertise in pre-transaction due diligence and business intelligence. She is frequently engaged by corporations, private equity concerns, government agencies and high net-worth individuals.

Prior to joining Kroll, Betsy served as Deputy Finance Chair for the Democratic National Committee in Washington, D.C. Earlier in her career, Betsy worked in the special equities department at LF Rothschild and Home Box Office.

 

Professional Experience

• Pre-transaction Research. Betsy has directed numerous custom-tailored investigations for private equity firms seeking strategic information prior to investments.
• Business Intelligence. When a portfolio company of a private equity firm was considering an acquisition, Betsy led the investigation into two customers responsible for 12% of the company’s revenue to determine whether or not they would continue their business relationship post-acquisition.
• High Net-worth Individuals. When a prominent financier and frequent commentator on the economy was misquoted on the Internet by a rogue blogger, the financier’s reputation was marred. Betsy assisted in investigating the issue, ultimately resulting in a full retraction from the blogger and the restoration of the financier’s reputation.
